Precise hip injections, guided by imaging
What injections are used for hip pain?
Hip pain injections include cortisone into the joint for arthritis flares, cortisone near the trochanteric bursa for outer hip pain, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for stubborn tendon problems and some early arthritis, and diagnostic numbing injections to confirm the pain source. Radiofrequency nerve ablation can ease arthritis pain in patients who are not ready for surgery.
The hip joint sits deep beneath thick muscle, so accuracy matters. Our team uses ultrasound or X-ray guidance so the medicine lands where it is needed. Dr. Stride explains what each option can and cannot do, how long relief typically lasts and how injections fit with therapy and, when relevant, timing around a future hip replacement.
